"He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay." Matthew 28:6
Happy Easter! This is our tired but happy family at about 11:00 p.m. after the Easter Vigil. Nate was confirmed and had his first communion.

south metro drivers: beware
...because Michael just turned 15 and starts his two-week Driver's Ed course today!
Holy cow, how did that happen? We so do not feel ready for this. I 'spose parents never do.

I'm gonna pop some tags, and cut some bangs, and meow meow
In 2nd grade I had that poor little girl's haircut. No wonder she's unhappy, there's a giant mushroom on her head.

recent Nicky stuff...
Or rather Dominic, 'cuz to everyone except family, he goes by his full name now. And I find the extra syllable handy when I'm yelling it across the house sometimes, too. But anyhoo, he had some cool stuff happen recently. His team won their 3rd/4th grade basketball division...
And he turned 10 this week. Yowsers!
And he just got glasses. His prescription is pretty mild, so not sure yet if he'll wear them all the time. Definitely not at recess...

"I believe; help my unbelief!"
We've been singing an English version of this at Mass recently and I think it's the bee's knees.
1. Godhead here in hiding, whom I do adore,
Masked by these bare shadows, shape and nothing more,
See, Lord, at thy service low lies here a heart
Lost, all lost in wonder at the God thou art.
2. Seeing, touching, tasting are in thee deceived:
How says trusty hearing? that shall be believed;
What God's Son has told me, take for truth I do;
Truth himself speaks truly or there's nothing true.
3. On the cross thy godhead made no sign to men,
Here thy very manhood steals from human ken:
Both are my confession, both are my belief,
And I pray the prayer of the dying thief.
4. I am not like Thomas, wounds I cannot see,
But can plainly call thee Lord and God as he;
Let me to a deeper faith daily nearer move,
Daily make me harder hope and dearer love.
5. O thou our reminder of Christ crucified,
Living Bread, the life of us for whom he died,
Lend this life to me then: feed and feast my mind,
There be thou the sweetness man was meant to find.
6. Bring the tender tale true of the Pelican;
Bathe me, Jesu Lord, in what thy bosom ran---
Blood whereof a single drop has power to win
All the world forgiveness of its world of sin.
7. Jesu, whom I look at shrouded here below,
I beseech thee send me what I thirst for so,
Some day to gaze on thee face to face in light
And be blest for ever with thy glory's sight.
Amen.

at home, tired of cold weather, bored, and browsing pinterest...
Or, ya know, the email didn't get forwarded. Sometimes because of this...
And this was the kinda day I had, minus the high heels & dress. And I kept the maniacal glee on the inside...

spring fever hits early
Don't you hate when this happens?
Okay, clearly I've gone stir crazy and lost my marbles what with all this insane cold. The kids are off school again today, and all their giddy squeally romping around is getting to me. I can't shoo them outside to regain my peace and sanity, not when frostbite can set in in 10 minutes or less.
When we had the 1st day off earlier this month due to cold, I think they said it'd been 18 years since that happened, and now it's day #5 just this month...cray crayziee! Sayonara January, it's been fun. Let's do it again in eleven months.

Crystal Anniversary
Nate and I are celebrating our anniversary today. Yay! I'm so glad that God in his generous providence ordained that we should meet and travel through life together...
...and that we should be blessed with four happy, healthy kids. Wow.
I can't really wrap my brain around it all. But I try to ponder the awesomeness of life and our blessings on occasion. Then somebody spills their milk at the dinner table.

2013 holidays
Made it through the holidays with safe travels and nobody getting sick. Score! Had a lovely time with our lovely families and got to meet our new great (grand?) niece too - Cole is a daddy! Addysen is a cutie.
Adrienne bought that headband at Kohl's with her own money 'cuz I wasn't interested in paying for it. The last day before break was designated "ugly sweater and festive hat day" at her middle school. She wore the headband, and I said she covered both bases with ugly festive headwear. Ha! She didn't care. That girl marches to the beat of her own drummer.
We hit a few snafus during our down time. We hadn't printed pictures for 2 years, and figured we'd dig into the forbidding task of deciding which pics to upload, then crop and whatnot. When I was almost done, Snapfish or IE keeled over after I'd spent a few hours cropping 900 pictures, so got to do it all over again the next day. What a sinking, sickening feeling that was - in a first world problems kinda way, I mean. You know those annoying dreams where you relive part of your day in a never ending cycle? Yeah, I was cropping photos relentlessly in my sleep that night. Then yesterday when we took down the tree, we discovered mold all over the carpet underneath. We banished the kids from the room while I donned a veritable hazmat suit and attacked it with ammonia. Still not sure if the stain will completely come out. Oy! But anyway, minus the computer implosion and mold spores, it was a peachy holiday.
Happy 2014! May all your wildest dreams come true.
